Sound Recording, Music and Radio

MUSIC'S INFLUENCE --    When I was about 14 I started to listen to a lot of 2Pac because when I heard his music I interpreted a lot like poetry. My mother did not like me listening to his music because she had heard previous songs of his with a lot of profanity and did not feel like it was appropriate for me to listen to that type of music at my age. I felt frustrated that she was trying to limit my growth through music and explained to her that he also had songs that also revealed social issues which were important for me to hear and learn from. My favorite music genres are R&B, Hip- Hop, Rap, Spanish Banda and Reggaetton. My top five favorite artists are Drake, Maxwell, Mariah Carey, Cristian Castro and Selena.  TOPIC 2: CAMPUS RADIO --   I think an LBCC radio station would be a great idea because it would help build additional communication source to the campus other than LB live and The Commuter. It would also give students majoring in Communication and or Journalism

Books & Magazines

TOPIC 1: BANNED BOOKS AND YOUR BOOKSHELF There are some books that I've read that are in the ALA list like To Kill a Mockingbird, Beloved, The Kite Runner, The Hunger Games, Twilight and Of Mice and Men. With the exception of Twilight and The Hunger Games most of the books I've read in the list were in either Middle School and High School and can understand why they would be challenged books. For example I read To Kill a Mockingbird in Middle School and can understand how some parents may feel or think they're child is nor ready to comprehend the content of the book because the story line is racial and has some explicit language. I personally think that it's important for students to learn about stories like that of To Kill a Mockingbird because it provides them with different life perspectives. I also think parents have the right to withhold permission if they feel their child is not ready for the content but should not blanket this to all students. Some of the boo

If you know me personally then you also know I love Drake. I love his music but most importantly I love him. Yes, I am Drake fan girl and unless you've been living under a rock for the past month than at some point you've heard his new single "In My Feelings" from his recently released album Scorpion. The song has been the #1 song in the country, hitting Billboards Top 100 for a fifth week with a record breaking 116.2 million U.S. Streams. It's also arguably become the song of the summer thanks in part by the Shiggy dance craze which created the "In My Feelings Challenge". Scorpion is Drake's fifth studio album with Young Money Entertainment, Cash Money Records and Republic records following his "Playlist" album More Life which was released March 18, 2017. His new album has sold over a million in sales before CD's were even produced and most likely will be nominated for award

Newspapers & Fake News

NEWSPAPERS --  A few years ago I switched from cable to only using streaming services Hulu & Netflix and this affected how I would stay informed about current events. At the time I substituted Facebook to keep updated with local news and would stream CNN on my Apple TV for national and international news. Since then I no longer use Facebook so now I rely on word of mount to get local news. I would say that local news are not too important in my daily life because they aren't really spoken about. The last time my friends shared local news with me was about the OSU security threat earlier this year and the Salem water issue all to which I researched online to assure the information being reiterated to me was correct. I don't subscribe to any online news sources and would not be willing to pay because I think it's an unnecessary bill. The information being shared via subscription can most likely be found in taking 5 minutes of proactivity whether it's local, nationa
